XN, Taiwanese student at l'institut Français de la mode, answers our questions
Throughout our process of accompaniment at Excusez My French, we have the opportunity to discuss, to exchange with the students. At the same time, we take the opportunity to ask them questions about their journey, but above all, to assess and measure the importance and weight of the help we provide them. After the interview granted by Sara, it's XN's turn to share with us her experience as a foreign student in France, more specifically in Paris. Here is our exchange:
To find out a little more, can you introduce yourself?
XN: "My name is XN, I am a student at l'institut Français de la mode." (Editor's note: IFM is a private French higher education institution which specializes in training and research in the industries of fashion, design, textiles and luxury, but also in the creative industries.).
Why did you choose France to continue your studies?
XN: “Basically, it was research for my lessons. I was looking for documentation and courses related to the design and production of shoes. It was there that I discovered the French Fashion Institute. Indeed, it is one of the many schools that offers a Master in shoe design. I said to myself why not? "
What is the first thing you thought of when embarking on this adventure, which is the discovery of Paris?
XN: “Being a country historically and culturally rich, I was directly fascinated by the abundance of museums. Compared to other countries and cities, Paris has a big advantage in terms of art and its accessibility. ”
What were the first difficulties you encountered at the start of your project?
XN: “I noted that in France, several procedures take a long time. The administrative is a real obstacle course, so you have to make sure that all the files are correct and complete before submitting them to the organizations. Nobody wants to waste time waiting for an answer that will probably never arrive, right? "
How did you hear about Excusez My French?
XN: "It is through my school, l'institut Français de la mode."
How did Excuse My French help you in your efforts?
XN: “It's a very practical service. Before my arrival in Paris, I maintained contact with Sophie for a while, she was of great help to me. This service is very useful for students, especially for those who do not live in France and who plan to continue their studies in Paris. In fact, there is a major problem: there are many, if not all, administrative documents written in French. Therefore, if we do not control it, we really need a person who helps us manage this administrative part. This saves us considerable time.

Do you have any recommendations for future students who will come to Paris?
XN: "Well, on my side, I will learn more to cook and prepare my dishes myself. I have found that eating out can be very expensive, and eating out is not always easy for students. It would be best to prepare your own meals in order to save money. ”
