The touristic districts :

The 1st

If you want to improve your general culture, visiting this arrondissement is an absolute must. Or at least you must know where it is! Moreover that’s where the Louvre is. If you are interested in law, literature, architecture or legislation, then you’re in for a treat with the Palais de Justice, the Académie Française, the Pont-Neuf and the Conseil d’Etat that stand there. And fine jewelry amateurs will drool over the Place Vendôme shop windows. Lucky you.

The 4th

The dream place to eat awesome falafels in narrow streets. It’s also the LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans) community’s main spot. For romanticism, just wander around l’Île Saint-Louis.

The 5th

For students who want to hang out in a student district, or to make photocopies – wait, who still does nowadays? – Oh, and you’ll find the Jardin des Plantes there too.

The 6th

If you want your money to vanish into thin air, just take a coffee at Saint Germain-des-Prés or Café de Flore!

The 8th

The well-known Champs-Élysées… But well, once you’ve walked up and down the avenue and seen the shop windows, there’s nothing left to do there… On the other hand the Opéra is worth the visit for its architecture, and music lovers can enter its premises.

The 16th

The chic-area, with the Musée Marmottant Monet where Monet amateurs usually meet to admire the Nymphéas paintings, and breathtaking sunsets…

The 18th

The two-faces arrondissement : on one side designers’ shops and 10€ crispbread; on the other side a place that looks forsaken by bin men. Yet Montmartre is nice when not crowded by tourists.

The 19th

If you’re in need of nature but can’t leave the capital, the 19th arrondissement will relieve your pain : lovely houses with vast greenery surroundings, wooded parks and the long Ourcq Canal – enough to make you feel like hanging around the countryside!

The 20th

The perfect district for a quiet walk, where lie the Père Lachaise Cemetery and nice popular neighborhoods. One of the rustic spots in Paris.

The party-goer districts:

The 10th

Basically Party-land!

The 11th

For students under 25 who want 3 things : party, party and party.

The districts in which there’s not much to do :

The 2nd

From the Louvre, you can wander around until ending in the 2nd arrondissement that covers Les Halles, Sentier and Strasbourg-Saint-Denis.

The 3rd

A nice, quiet but trendy district that is worth the visit with the Place des Vosges, the Rue de Turenne and the Temple area . And you may be delighted with the Beaubourg and its surroundings’ pleasant lifestyle.

The 7th

Apart from the quietness, nothing very interesting there according to aficionados…

The 9th

The district in the very heart of Paris, with elegant Haussmann-style buildings and a quite old-fashioned charm. You’d think you’re in a time bubble. You can go for an adventure in Gare Saint-Lazare and Gare du Nord though…

The 12th

Just stay away from the subway lines 6 and 8!

The 13th

Apart from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (BNF), you’d only find habitations.

The 14th

Move along, there’s nothing to see here.

The 15th

Ideal for families looking for a quiet and green-area district. But well you, you’re a student…

The 17th

Is well-known for its high prices. Remember you’re in Paris after all…

Good to know !

Paris postal codes always starts with 750. The last two numbers refer to the arrondissement. For the 1st arrondissement : 75001; for the 12th : 75012.
